A beautifully printed book, divided by area. It starts with the history of Spain's museums then continues on with a thorough history of the Prado museum. This large heavy book has 273 of the Prado's finest artwork with very fine reproductions of the paintings on bright white matte paper at the Prado in Madrid. The paintings are arranged by 'school' & by age with the oldest painting first ending with the most recent. A fine addition to any library of art books.

It is an interesting walk through memory lane, as the actual museum was a real treat and well worth many days touring.We only allowed for one full Prado day. Their collection is massive with tapestries, furniture and sculptures besidesall the incomparable art works. An insight into the history of the museum building was well done.

Content is great. I got this along with another book on the Prado, and although that book has more prints, this book is wonderfully imposing in its hardback form. It's got some real heft, at almost three inches thick. Worthy of display, if you have a library or on top of the coffee table book pile.

This is an exquisite table top book that you won't want to shelve anytime soon. Lavish in detail the book has 275 paintings that are world famous. The time period covered is the 12th right up through the 20th century. No easy task to get a sampling from the Prado, one of the greatest museums in the world. The author manages just that as he doesn't over emphasive the "known" masters and unveils some of the lesser and even unknown artists.Since the author, Santiago Alcolea Blanch, a renowned art historian, is Spanish, there is a leaning towards the works of the well known Spanish masters like El Greco and Velasquez, right up to the more modern Picasso. This is not to say that it only features Spanish artists as it includes the masters from throughout Europe. Anyone interested in art will love and benefit from this book. There is much to be learned from superb works that have withstood world wars and other atrocities of mankind and been viewed by millions of people. The first paintings revealed are those painted on murals and board, eventually working its way to oil on canvas. Since much of the works from the masters is of a religious nature one will find superb paintings inspired from the divine, mans earliest works as manifested through his interpretations of God and his glory. Marveling at these works leaves no doubt about the everlasting impression this subject matter must have had on the artists. That we would be given the opportunty to view such inspirational works from the comforts of our living rooms is an additional blessing. The works are not limited to religious themes as there are countless portraits of the nobility and loyalty that shaped the world events of their time and even directed the course of history. These were the photographs of their day, long before digital images could be loaded instantly on a computer, only the wealthy could afford such a luxury. The works, as percieved through the eyes of the artist are uncommon and magnificent testimonials of a bygone era. As an additional bonus the book is also a history book. The first 139 pages are a concise explanation of the origins of the Royal Collection and the Academy of Fine Arts. Included in the historical tour are great black and white photographs of the Prado in various time periods, including draft plans for the additions. Each director is profiled in story book fashion to illustrate the achievements and problems encountered during their time as directors. Captivating and informative, the written word in this book is an excellent source of information for the art historian. Follow the trial and tribulations of those most influential in giving the world one of it's greatest museums. For furhter exploration there is also a pretty extensive bibliography. This is a quality book that any lover of art will cherish, highly recommended for those that like the works of the masters.

Take a tour of the fabulous Prado museum with this lavishly illustrated volume. Featuring over 300 full page photos, this work reveals the astounding depth of the Prado's collection. The book is arranged by "schools" of nationalities, just as the museum is, and features many of the most classic and cherished paintings Europe has produced from medieval triptychs to Picasso's "Guernica". These aren't the only paintings featured, however. The reader is invited to see the collection longitudinally. I really enjoyed, for example, seeing the wonderful variety of Velasquez' paintings - those he did in the employ of the royal court were markedly different than his early work.The book is not just colorplates, though. The first 125 pages give a detailed history of the museum itself, which is very fascinating (especially the travails of the building and the collection during the civil war). There is also included a reprinting of the royal proclamation establishing the museum in 1432.The book is published by Abrams' reprint service, but the quality is still exceptional. The colors are beautiful and the binding is very nice and durable as well. Enjoy it!

First off I enjoy reverse harem concepts, and have come to love the combo work of both authors. So I knew I'd MOST likely like it.So let me tell you....warning, NO spoilers - which is VERY HARD to not do.....I LOVE LOVE LOVED IT! I loved the angels, I loved the overal concept and plot lines. I really liked the snarky, sarcastic main girl.I think this is one of what I think will soon be a big quick win for J.A. Cipriano & Erin Bedford. I love a lot of books, but I would totally put this at a 6 star. My only, and they are so small, downsides: Want another book PRONTO, I wish ___ and I wish ____ and I wish ________. > NO spoilers. See!The writing is on par, the flow of the story is great. I mean there isn't really anything bad about it. I can see SO many more possibilities of fun to come from this book cause I enjoyed so many characters (both Big and Small). I am not normally a fan, and while I love the show Lucifer, it doesn't mean I had a lot of high hopes...but this writing duo sold me within the first 2 chapters.So YES: buy the book. This was one of the best impulse book buys that I have read in a while!Jane is just a normal twenty-something trying to get by with her bartending job.... who happens to be able to see angels, the good and the fallen :). Constantly harassed (and aroused) by none other than Michael, Gabriel, and Lucifer, people either think Jane is crazy or psychic. While she doesn't have any power of her own (other than the sight), the guys certainly do, and she uses those as her "psychic" gifts. When her friend, a cop, asks for her help on a missing persons case, Jane agrees and, with the guys' help, tries to discover the truth.I really loved the guys. Micheal the archangel was so serious and not quite up to date on some modern colloquialisms. Gabriel is the playful one you can't help but love. Lucifer, well.. he's the devil ;). He was funny and hot and I couldn't get enough of his interactions with Jane. Actually, all of their interactions with Jane were great!I am definitely eagerly awaiting the next book!

Heaven's Embrace the first book in a new series "Her Angels" which is a reverse harem story involving Jane who is human and three angels, Michael, Gabriel, and Lucifer each angel has a very different personality but all of them have one thing in common, they are hot! As Jane is the only one who can see them her friends think she's either crazy or psychic.When a girl goes missing she is asked to work with the police to find her as Jane doesn't really have any powers he enlists the help of her angels.A well-written book by two talented authors, they have given us some really great characters here. I found this book to be highly entertaining and funny whilst also having some hot chemistry.I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

She is not normal she sees things that are not there, specifically Angels and Fallen ones. The three she sees are Lucifer the Fallen Angel (The Devil), Angel Gabriel, and Angel Michael. Lucifer is a bad boy Fallen Angels that likes to come and bother her. While Gabriel is an Angels that is like a best friend. Then there is Angel Michael. All three driver her nuts with lust. There is a reason she is able to see the Angels and feel them. They are drawn to her, either know why. She seems crazy to other humans, do to it looking like she is talking to herself. A girl goes missing and she is asked to help find the girl with her powers, which are also her three angels. Do they find the girl to save her? You will have to read the book to find out.

I giggled, yes actually giggled at the things that came out of the Jane, the main character's mouth. Then add in that she can see and converse with Angel's and also fallen ones too. So right now she has lusting after her Gabriel who knew her first, then Michael who is always in charge and finally Samael (the Devil) who won't stop teasing her and trying to seduce her. The men are not solid so she feels tingling and buzzing when they touch her. Then she starts working with police on a kidnapping case. She is working as a psychic with the men giving her all the information. There are several surprises that pop up too. Can't wait to read the next one.I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Heaven's Embrace is a reverse harem romance between Jane and two angels (Michael and Gabriel) and Lucifer. She can see them, but no one else can. Together they help solve some crimes and sparks fly in the process. There is serious attraction and chemistry between Jane and her angels - but there is a problem... she can't touch them. There is plenty of humor in this tale that will have you chuckling as well as some sexy scenes as well when Michael uncovers a solution (albeit temporary) to their problem. This is an easy read - one that I did not want to put down once I got started. The story jumps right in with Jane working as a psychic bartender, and Jane is seriously sexually frustrated thanks to her three hot angels. The way Michael, Gabriel and Lucifer are depicted makes them seem more real and not unlike typical guys. Definitely looking forward to seeing what comes next for Jane and her angels.

I'm pretty much usually down with a Victorian era novel and I love Sherlock Holmes and this had his niece in it, so I read it and bob's your uncle. If you're looking for a bit of steampunk AU where there's a bit of exploration of women's roles in that era, a bit of romance, even (why not) some time traveling, and a bit of girls kicking buttishness, then this is a fun and innocuous though not very deep novel.There were some pretty strong feminist themes that I liked. Mina and Eveline were capable characters, strong and interesting. But their "depth" of character seemed maybe contrived and a bit forced; instead of being organic and flowing naturally, it seemed like someone said, what would be an unexpected weakness in these characters? Ah! It's that they're not as smart and strong as they thought they were. Except there was never any good reason for Mina to suspect the villain was who she thought it was, and she even said that a few times. And Eveline is just squeamish? I guess? She couldn't get over that?And throughout the novel they were in competition instead of cooperation with each other. I'm sure they will get along better in later books when they're relationship develops, but for a novel with feminist themes it seems like women were pitted against each other a bit much. And there was a lot of romance in the book as well, which I'm not entirely sure was to its benefit. But it made for some nice entertainment!I also am not a huge fan of alternating POV, just a personal preference, so that didn't work as much for me.

This is a fairly entertaining steampunk YA, set in a parallel 1889 London where a wealthy aristocrat who owns extensive steam-engine factories suc-ceeded in getting electricity outlawed in the British Empire when it was just getting started, so technology developed rather differently in the latter part of the 19th century from how it did in our timeline. The two POV characters are Mina Holmes—daughter of Mycroft, niece of Sherlock— and Evaline Stoker, younger sister of Bram. Both are 17. Mina has been a pupil of her uncle Sherlock and exhibits his highly developed powers of observation and deduction, but has not worked to any great extent on her skills at physical combat the way Sherlock had. Her social skills aren’t the greatest, either, since her mother abandoned her when she was young and her father is much to busy with his government work to pay much attention to her. Evaline, on the other hand, is the latest embodiment of a long line of “Venators”—vampire hunters who have super-strength and quickness to let them match the abilities of the Undead. She’s also lovely and popular with young men, though she isn’t really interested in most of them because compared to her they’re wimps. At the beginning of the book both of the girls have been summoned (separately) to the British Museum after hours, where they learn that Irene Adler has undertaken a commission for Crown Princess Alexandra to solve the mystery of several aristocratic young women who have either disappeared or been found murdered. And after she explained this to them and asked for their help, they go out into the body of the museum and find a young man, strangely dressed, standing over the body of yet another young woman, whom Evaline recognizes. Mina quickly notices that the young man’s shoes are dry, although it’s a beastly night out and her own boots are quite muddy. He must have been inside the museum since before the rain started, and couldn’t have brought the girl there. And the story goes on, with Mina attracted both to the stranger and the Inspector from Scotland Yard who comes to investigate the murder, and Evaline to a Cockney called Pix who keeps turning up in the course of their investigation. I got a bit tired of the two girls’ getting all hot and bothered over those men, but otherwise the story was enter-taining and I like both the characters when they aren’t being lovesick along with several other characters who interact with them. There are two more books in the series available now, and a fourth that should be released soon. I’ve bought the Kindle editions of the two that are available, and will probably get the fourth when it’s out.

I loved the colorful and exciting world Colleen Gleason created, and the relationship between the two female leads is just how an unlikely friendship would start in my mind.The pace is steady and the story is told through the points of view of Evaline Stoker (the sister of Bram) and Alvermina Holmes (niece of Sherlock), which gives marvelous insight into their individual personalities and interests. They find themselves in a situation where they are forced to work together, much as they would prefer not to. Although they don't see eye to eye in the beginning, they learn to overcome the issues they have with one another in order to unravel a frightening mystery, one that is killing London's finest young women.There are steampunk references, but no so many that someone who doesn't read the genre should be dissuaded from reading the book. Appropriate for all advanced readers who like mystery, suspense and a hint of romance. I am very much looking forward to checking out the next book in the series!

I love well done steampunk stories, and in this book I was happy with the pictures evoked. Add in girl power with Holmes and Stoker, and I expected great. Unfortunately, there was a bit too much child in the girl and not enough power. I don’t mind mistakes happening as they’re learning and overcoming obstacles, but the girly giggly stuff was just too juvenile. The love interests were a hindrance and not an asset, making the girls appear weak. I had hoped this would be an empowering the girls story instead of a being saved by the boy story. Sad.But what I really didn’t care for was to be left hanging at the end. Holmes had adversaries in Adler and Moriarty, but you knew who they were. You also knew that they’d be showing up again, but even so, each of the Holmes books had a finished feel. Not so with this story. Not only do you not find out (for sure) who the adversary is, the ending just seems to be lying there rather than having a finished feel.I have yet to decide if I’m going to try the second book. On the one hand the second story is not outrageously priced, but on the other hand I don’t want further disappointment. Still, I really liked the world created by the author, and if she can fix the problems this could be a really good series.

If your child has recently been diagnosed ADHD this book is a must have! I purchased several other books in hopes of helping my 7 year old daughter adjust to her diagnosis. This is by far the best, non-bias resource I have found to date! Not only does it discuss the options between using medication and not, behavior techniques, and ways to change your own thinking, it also contains helpful information on speaking to your child's teachers. Also included is information on federal laws requiring certain programs available to all children in public and charter schools.For the newly diagnosed, this book is amazing!

In my clinical practice I treat and evaluate children and adults with ADHD. I always recommend this book to parents who have children with attention problems in order for them to get a complete objective overview of the disorder and the treatments that are available.This book explains in simple language the current medical definition of ADHD and why you need a complete evaluation in order to receive an accurate diagnosis. It contains a thorough discussion of the treatment options available for the parents and child. It encourages parents to become the "case manager" of their child's treatment. In order to understand how and what treatment is best for your child you need to understand what the scientific research has shown works and does not work in treating this disorder. It is then possible to make educated choices for your child.This book is published by the American Academy of Pediatrics and they have done an excellent job in bringing a factual and complete guide for parents to understand ADHD. I recommend it as the first book to read when you are researching this problem.

Definitely a must for any parent who has a child with ADHD. It's an honest, unbiased read for medication vs no medication and ways to work with your child.

Once again, RaeAnne Thayne weaves a story that keeps your eyes glued to the book until the very last page of this spectacular tale.Let your imagination carry you away as you picture the breathtaking scenery, sit back, smell the roses, and enjoy this spellbinding love story.

I have read several other books in this series. But it feels like this one was "called in". This dialogue was flat. The events were too far separated by soul searching over kisses.

I felt like this book took a long time to finish. The characters were okay, as was the story-line, but there's not much to remember it by.

I didn't realize that I had read the book before until I started to anticipate what would happen next. Still, I read it to the end again. It is the kind of book that is relaxing and fun. No great depth. Many times I read as an escape - this is that kind of book.

This was an okay book but not one of her best I think. The end seemed kind of rushed and it's hard to imagine love blooming into something so strong in such a short time with only a few dates. Sorry but not a keeper for me.

Rohen's atlas presents the gross anatomy of the human body in well organized, high-quality photos of amazing-quality dissections. I used Rohen's Anatomy (alongside Netter's and McMinn's) as I studied with cadavers. I do feel like Rohen was the tool that set apart my studying, performance, and understanding from those who used only the cadavers and Netter.The basic presentation is superficial to deep dissections (beginning with osteology), region by region. Complex structures are presented from a number of different views. Aberrancies are noted. Each structure is identified with a line connected to a number. The numbers correlate to a list of structures located on the same or opposing page. This makes for excellent self-testing.I can think of no better tool for studying physicians (and advance practice nurses and PAs) to use in conjunction with Dr. Netter's atlas to help them understand gross anatomy. There is no better tool than this to prepare the student for cadaveric lab practical identification exams.

I am a first year med student, and this book made a huge difference in my grades. You can only spend so much time in the anatomy lab, and the other atlas's that use drawings are great for learning theory, however this book allowed me to prepare well for practicals where you must identify the structure on a cadaver. Also, unlike studying real cadavers without definitive feedback, I was 100% certain whether I named the structure correct or not. The layout of the book is great. the pictures are real, and the arrows to the structures are numbered so you can name the structure without seeing the correct answer, then verify the number and name on the bottom of the same page. Well worth the investment, my grades went up significantly and made dissection much easier.

This book is excellent. The pictures are clear. Descriptions are well written. Rohen is one of the most respected anatomy books out there. I bought this used but it more than serves its purpose. I know many people use the electronic version which I have on vitalsource but I like to be able to flip the pages and stare at it on a large page without the glare of laptops.

Although Netter's classic drawings are helpful in understanding the layout of human body systems, I find that this 6th Edition of Rohen is outstanding due to the excellent photography of professionally-dissected cadavers. It is much easier to identify complex structures on real cadavers in a Gross Anatomy lab using this reference; moreover, it is helpful as a tool to study when the cadaver lab is not open. Real bodies are much more difficult to analyze than idealized drawings--with this book, you can review before a laboratory excercise and have a more realistic expectation of what you are going to actually see.People generally have different tastes in the types of atlases that they prefer to use, but I think that this one covers everything you would want to see.

This is a fantastic supplement for gross anatomy. Netter's Atlas is better for visualizing the basic concepts of anatomy, and I would recommend purchasing that book before this one. If you can afford two anatomy supplements, though, the Color Atlas should be next on your list. No drawing can really replace an actual dissection. This atlas is much more useful for studying in preparation for a practical exam, whereas Netter's might better serve you when studying for your written. This (like Netter's) is also a rarity of a medical text insofar as it also makes a great coffee table book (if you don't have squeamish friends).

This is by far the best atlas to buy. It has great pictures which represent exactly what you see in dissection lab. As a student who relied on this book heavily, it’s what got me through studying without wanting to spend all that time in the cadaver lab.

The book arrived on time and in perfect condition so I have no complaints about shipping and condition.It has been somewhat helpful in my anatomy class. It's nice to have actual photos of cadvers and not just pictures. My only complaint is that it does not have enough pictures. I looked through the whole book for the picture of a lumbrical but could not find one. I'm thinking of buying Netters to complement it. (All my anantomy lecturers use Netters, that's another reason I'm buying it)The book also seems a bit disorganised. I try looking at the table of contents when looking for things but I often end up flipping through it or checking the index.Overall its a good book.

There's nothing to say here that probably hasn't been said - You will purchase a lot of textbooks once you start medical school. This is one of three that I kept and still use today (currently a PGY-2 surgery resident). Buy it and keep it in good condition. You will be using this over your career if you plan on going into a surgical specialty.

Congressman John Lewis was a leader in the American Civil Rights Movement. He was chairman of the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee (SNCC) and played a key role in the struggle to end segregation. It's not a quick read (that is a good thing). It is packed with details about from the Civil Rights movement of the early 1960's. John Lewis is the focal point, but it covers some of Dr. King's work, the Freedom Rides and a lot of the work performed by the SNCC. The artwork does a wonderful job portraying the scenes, including the stores, cars, streets and furniture. The art also conveys the emotions of the characters (on all sides) quite well.It is being advertised as a teaching tool for young people. That is true, and it can be very effective. I am a 38 year old professional who majored in history and teaches social work at Rutgers. I learned a ton from this.

Wow, this book is just stunning both with its graphics and its message. In Book Two, we are now in the "heart" of the peaceful protests. Those who are running the restaurants and movie theaters have decided that they're going to escalate. Not only do they just call in the cops. They try to poison the peaceful occupiers. Lawyers who simply walk into a police station to check on their client are brutally beaten by the police. Buses are set on fire. People out walking are shot and killed. It is staggering the open level of anger that erupts - and again I point out that the protesters were **peaceful**. The protesters don't even fight back! They lay there, passive, and the locals angrily stomped on and brutalized them. It is a quite heart-rending commentary on the cruelty within some people to do those sorts of actions to another human being.And it wasn't that long ago.It's also fair to say that there are clearly some people left who still have that hatred within them, as countless dash-cam and cellphone video have proven. Hopefully overall as a society we find it much more a horrific outlier and not "just the way things are."I love the interweaving between the Obama inauguration and the events of the past that people had to survive (and some did not). It brings even more power to the message. And I greatly admire the style and nature of the graphics. I think they perfectly bring to life the darkness but also the optimism of what was happening.Well recommended. A must-read.

My husband has been reading this series to our 8 year old son and they really enjoy them. It is a fantastically written book for curious children's minds and evokes good conversations that should be had in this day and age with our children. Now, more than ever it is important to remember where our country has come from and not forget that it has been a fight all the way. We don't want history to slide back and these candid conversations to next generations can open up minds and instill a desire for unity. John Lewis is a truly remarkable person of our times and his writings are a must read for children and adults, alike.

I bought this series for my niece who is starting her first year as an English teacher in Southern Illinois because she's building a library in her classroom. She was almost rhapsodic. She says that the format - the writing and the art - offers great insight to young people with widely varying reading skills and social backgrounds. Probably more importantly, it provides them with an historic perspective they might not respond to at all if it were presented in another format or medium.

I had to get this book for a college class on modern American history that I had to write an essay for. The fact that it is a graphic novel makes it so much easier to read. I read this book in a day and it was great (consider my other sources nearly put me to sleep).

Very Informative book, that has help me understand many of the feature around the construction of small project such as a residential building to one as complex as a major highway. Save your more money and purchase the 3rd edition versus the 4th, the information is almost exactly the same and the price is much more reasonable.

Booked looked kinda used but wasnt expecting otherwise. The price was excellent, a lot cheaper than buying or renting from the college. The teacher said this book has a lot of good info for schedulers and project management so hopefully will get good use out of it.

Constructed Materials, Methods, etc. came within the projected time. It was in perfect condition as advertised. Excellent copy for new construction.

I purchased it as a required text book for a Construction management class. I feel like the illustrations help make the reading come to life. I wish that there were more online training tools to help like study guides and blogs to discuss the topics. Otherwise, the book is good and I will not trade it in, I plan to use it as a resource for my future career in interior and architectural planning.
