What can I say...I fell in love with Catori prequel and have been reading the CSA series religiously ever since.This latest edition tells of the bad ass Gunney. It's great. Both Jay as I'm calling her and Gunney held their own.I'm happy that Gunney finally got the answers he wanted regarding his sister's murder and he has that closure. On a side note, I couldn't help but notice that the plot is somewhat similar to that of the missing Nigerian girls who were kidnapped by Boko Harran about two years ago and taken into the Nigerian forest. Some of whom were released, while the majority are still in captivity.And this book reminded me of those girls. It was also an eye opener into the world of human trafficking and the reality of capitalist and politics and how they intertwine.I'm looking forward to Catori's story and that of Trigger.Well done again Mrs Layne.

Kennedy brings us another story filled with danger at every turn and a team of highly trained hostage rescue men and one very smart and dedicated female leader. Starr and her husband started the hostage rescue team and Red is killed in a rescue attempt gone wrong. Starr pulls together her team and now it's up to her to take on these dangerous assignments and get her team in and out of situations that others won't touch.In this mission the rescue of young girls and a women everyone thought was dead are rescued. Gunny is the team leader that has an attraction for Jade right from the start and it makes it hard to stay on task as things unfold.As in all this series it is a roller coaster of ups and downs, twists and turns that leave you staying up late until the last page is read. You need to read the series in order to understand the background story and get to know the other people on the team. We even get a peak at Gavin Crest from The CSA Case Files in this one. I think you will enjoy Gunny and Jade's story a lot.

This is a really fantastic series. I do love how Kennedy does the research necessary to make the story as authentic as possible. The characters worked together and got me really into the story.The side glimpses of the other characters stories yet to come is just enough to keep you on the edge of your seat and anxiously waiting for the next book.

I like this Red Starr series. This book was especially good because it showcased 2 characters who had just met rather than former lovers trying to reconnect and start over. There's the usual resistance on the part of the hero in this book to getting involved with someone he's supposed to be protecting, but eventually they both give in to their attraction.

This book kept moving from the very first and the devotion that Gunny had for his sister was unprecedented. He then got caught up in getting hostages released which brought him in contact with someone the rescue team did not know was there. I would recommend this book to people who love military action books.

I really like this series especially the story lines and the action. There are some misspellings. I find the heroines super annoying except the first two. The rest of them I just want to slap.

Hot and steamy romance plus plenty of action !!! Makes me wish I had 1 for myself .😍 😘 😁

I read this as I like travel logs about small boats. Theroux is an excellent writer, and it's fun to get lost in the details of this trip that covers all of the major stopping points in Oceana. The only reason I have left off the fifth star is that as a traveler and an ethnographer, he tends to form a negative view or at least a narrative that focuses on the negatives of each culture he encounters. After a while, the book starts seeming like a catalog of "what is wrong with these people and this place". A great deal of that is appropriate, however, and the book is a definite knockdown of any dreamy ideas of "Gaugin's Paradise" in favor of the brutal realities of how the modern world is affecting or has affected the places and cultures of Oceana as of the late '80s. It also presents some pretty good evidence as to why Thor Heyerdahl's theories about migration are dead wrong.

Many reviewers of this book cited the author's melancholy in the early chapters. Divorce is depressing!I have visited many of the islands covered in this comprehensive overview of Oceania and found the descriptions to be remarkably consistent with my experiences. If you've never been to the Pacific Islands, this will give you a true feel for the varied and exotic peoples and locations. Mr. Theroux spent a good deal of time in the Solomons, which are not nearly as developed and accessible as the better known chains (Cook Islands, Society Islands, Hawaii). I found his description of American Samoa particularly interesting as I was married to a Samoan and visited family on the island. The comments about Pago Pago are spot on. The opening chapters on Australia and New Zealand were fascinating.

Before reading this book, I read through some of the reviews on here. Needless to say, I had the preconceived notion that this book was going to be the diatribe of a misanthropic, bitter wanderer. Although there are some moments where Theroux gets carried away with unkind portraits - his descriptions of Tongans and Samoans, for example - he is not the monster that many of the reviews here paint him as. Not everybody can be happy all the time, and that's more or less how he tells the story.If you have never read Paul Theroux, then perhaps you will be a bit shocked at his raw cynicism. I, for one, am a big fan. This is the blood and guts of world travel. Nobody can be completely open to a new culture or worldview, and certain things are bound to be annoying. The entire adventure of his literary tour in Australia, for example, points out the nagging, dragging questions of people unfamiliar with his work yet trying to conduct journalistic interviews. It isn't until he is rumbling over the outback that he meets a rural Australian who knows and admires his work - rather unexpectedly, at that. Also, one must remember that Theroux puts it right on the table that he is going through some serious issues in his life - a rough marriage break up, health issues, and feelings of alienation - and is removing himself from the mundane to paddle away his problems.I, for one, feel like this is one of Theroux's finest books. It is devoid of a real theme and lets you paddle alongside Theroux and his emotional travails. I've traveled a bit in Melanesia, and I find his descriptions to be quite apt. Trouble is everywhere in paradise. Murky, trashed lagoons and quarreling kin networks. Bugs, nagging children, and hustlers. But also, there is the hospitality, the betel nut, the amazing conversations, the unique and unexpected characters and, of course, the bleeding sunsets and turquoise, coral-studded seas.

I can't remember if it was this book or Kingdom By The Sea that was the first of Theroux's travel books I ever read. 'Kingdom by the Sea' turned out to be one of may favorite books and I have read it several times. This book, though, is also quite good and I have read it twice now.A lot of people have been very critical of Mr Theroux's travel writing but I do not share their opinions for the most part. I am not a happy traveler so I like to hear about somebody else's experiences in places I will likely never visit. I don't require a thorough, properly researched and documented sociological study in these books... I just want to be entertained. Theroux does so in this book and quite a few of his others that I have read.After reading this book I had a fuller appreciation that many of these pacific islands are considerably less like the paradises they have elsewhere been held out to be. Perhaps Theroux rather crankily overstates this, as some have suggested, but I recognize people will come away from a given place with different impressions than others. That is only to be expected and should in no way diminish one's enjoyment of a good read.C John Thompson

It was a good, concise read on how to optimize your websites efficiently for search engines, although I do have one complaint. The grammar was not the best, which was confusing, as there were only 58 pages. One would think that would be an easy proofread. Other than that, it was great, and a lot of the strategies described work quite well. The book was well researched, and had a large knowledge base behind it.

If the title were an introduction to SEO I would have given it 4 stars. This book is good for a super beginner. There is a lot of useful information in here. However, if you're looking for the step by step you won't find it. While the book is obviously written for a beginner you get the sense that it was written by someone who forgot what it is to be a beginner. Therefore, you'll want a somewhat basic knowledge of SEO's and why they're important before you start here or you'll get a little lost. Overall, a decent book.

Later, she was the first female law professor at Columbia University, and she sued them for equal pay too. She volunteered as an attorney for the New Jersey American Civil Liberties Union, represented custodians in a class action suit, and later, when the Free Speech Movement on campuses in the 1960s began to warm up, she was already red hot and ready to go.The best parts of Carmon’s memoir are the primary documents, because we get to see RBG’s own words. Ginsburg was made a federal appeals judge by President Jimmy Carter and moved to fill a vacancy on the U.S. Supreme Court by President Bill Clinton. She’s issued a number of tremendously eloquent decisions, and has chosen to read her dissent aloud, a thing not usually done, a record-breaking five times at the time this book was written. The lacy-looking necklace that fans out on all sides of her neck is her dissent collar, and so those that hear the Court deliver its decision can see exactly where Justice Ginsberg stands as soon as they see what she is wearing.At times such as these, in which a woman in Indiana was recently sentenced to 20 years in prison for having an abortion [reference mine], it gives women hope to know that there is a fighter on the Supreme Court who’s looking out for our interests. It doesn’t mean that women can step away from this political battle, but it’s a thing that encourages us and lends us fortitude.In January, it is rumored that Ginsberg will release her own memoir, one that relies heavily on her court decisions. Likely this will be an even better memoir than this one. For now though, this uplifting, funny, well-documented memoir is as good as it gets. Go get it.

Great so far, but DO NOT get the Kindle version. There are a lot of interesting pictures/graphics that contribute to the book and you will be very very sad to have to look at them on a Kindle screen - the adaptation is terrible. At least now, its more expensive than the hardcover version, which is ridiculous. I flipped through the actual book and it is laid out well and aesthetically pleasing... the Kindle version is not that at all. I'm really disappointed.

I don't think someone from my generation would have the imagination to design a book this way, or to include a photo feature about a Supreme Court Justice's "swag." But fundamentally this is a wonderful book about the difference an individual can make. The book's breezy style has a deeper and more serious significance, as well.I was touched by many things in this book, not only the courage of Justice Ginsburg's opinions, or the loving handwritten note from her dying husband, but even by the photos illustrating her close friendship with Justice Scalia, one of her ideological opposites - it's rare to see such a mensh in these times. The format is terrifically creative for this sort of subject: the NY Times reviewer aptly described it as being "as if a scrapbook and the Talmud decided to have a baby." The latter comes in especially for the way the book's margins are used for commenting on everything -- not just for the obvious connections to a Justice who is Jewish. (Apropos of that, though, one thing did puzzle me: the recipe for pork in milk at the back. Breaking two of the Jewish religion's food taboos at once -- isn't that a little gangsta? Was that the idea, or is the whole thing a joke? And actually, one other thing: the publisher's subject classification on the back cover is "Fiction." Aside from the recipe, I hope not.)I now live in Japan and teach comparative constitutional law there. Pretty much no one, including most law professors, can name the justices of the Japan Supreme Court, who are chosen for their anonymity, their conformity to a certain social background, and their timidity of thought. And throughout its nearly 70-year existence, the JSC has always upheld laws and regulations that limit civil rights. One reason I got this book was to be able to show my students how completely different the relationship between a country's Supreme Court and its citizens can be. In most countries of the world, a book like this would be inconceivable. While I'm not saying that many other Justices deserve such a tribute, this book should be a great reminder for Americans how lucky you are not only to have Justice Ginsburg, but also to be capable of such affectionate engagement with your government.

I've been a huge fan of RBG and was looking forward to a thorough account and analysis of her life, career, and achievements. But this just isn't it.Sure it glosses over some major legal milestones, but it spends as much time on her workouts, wardrobe, baby pictures, etc. It contains a mere 200 sparsely printed but amply (and beautifully) illustrated pages, and really offers little other than coffee table amusement to any normal adult. I'm planning on either donating this to my son's middleschool library or gift it to a progressive minded pre-teen girl; that's the audience this book is pitched at.My fault, I guess. It's a lesson learned in online shopping; I should have gone to a physical bookstore to browse before buying.Giving 2 stars because it may be good for the right audience, i.e., inspiring pre-teens to the idea of public service.

An excellent book and very inspiring. I'm glad there is someone like her on the Supreme Court. One thing that stuck out for me was her explanation as to why she didn't retire early so that Obama could put in a good replacement for her. And the explanation was that many women have been pushed out early. And trying to push women out so they can make room for others isn't right. People were also trying to push out Breyer but RGB was the one getting most of the press for not leaving.

Last night I read Marybeth Wuenschel’s book, You thoughts are Killing You and I realized that these worries are just thoughts in my head. Marybeth shares that our minds can take us down a negative path where we never intended to explore. We are taught to just “let it go.” She tells us that when it comes to our minds we need to guard and defend against these thoughts. We are in control! We must not give in to every dark thought.I am a Catholic and during this season of Lent, this book is very special. to me- for it is a time of reflection. Marybeth’s heart is to minister to her Catholic family the healing desire of God. God wants to heal us and deliver us from evil. Marybeth is sharing her thirty years ministering full time the Catholic Church. She leads amazing Prayer Groups and bible Study. She is a true teacher of the Word of God.

The devil often times whispers lies of my unworthiness of God’s love and that His merciful forgiveness does not obtain to me. When I believe the devils lies I often find myself defenseless. Too often people are too scared to talk about this taboo subject. Which is sad because many people are crumbling from self-hatred, negative thoughts and any lie the devil tells them to try and keep a grasp on them. Some people are too scared to talk about the devil and the ways he manipulates himself into our daily lives, causing pain and so much hurt.

Needed for a class was a good reference

Had to buy and read this book for a class on giving speeches. I think a lot of the points made in this book are relative and I don't agree with them.Honestly if you want to get better at public speaking just watch some Ted Talks, if you liked their speech write down what they did and copy them. Its effective and costs a lot less

I bought this textbook for my class. Do not purchase or rent this on the kindle version. It is absolutely terrible. It's so hard to navigate AND it's missing pages... However, the content itself is good and entertaining (at least the parts that I can read.)

There are portions missing, no page numbers, and blank pages between connected sections. The book itself is well written, but the iPad formatting is sub par and hard to follow when you are using it for a class.

I recently adopted this textbook for teaching multiple sections of public speaking at the university level. The book is affordable, engaging, and uses current events and pop culture to connect with students. Even more, though, it accomplishes this without sacrificing intellectual rigor. Speech Craft is not only well written but is also one of the most visually engaging textbooks I've ever used. I cannot recommend this text enough!

This book was the bane of my communication class. So much fluff and so little information. It's written like an out of touch parent trying to be hip. Avoid at all costs

The author weaves his own political views and political commentary into the lessons of this textbook. I found it distracring, annoying, and unprofessional. As a student, I found myself having to sift through the author's irrelevant little comments in order to grasp what he was trying to say about public speaking. The book, as a whole, was disunified, poorly written, and unremarkable. I find it hard to comprehend how little information is contained in so many words. Do not recommend.
