This is a wonderful addition to any cookbook collection. Not only is it a seafood cookbook, but it gives recipes that go along with the seafood, divided up by the seasons of the year that ingredients are at peak. On top of that, it has lovely articles about some of the restaurants and places to see in Florida. Since we plan to retire there in a few years, I was thrilled with this book!

What a great book! The recipes are fabulous, and the book itself is just beautiful. It's a great gift for anyone who loves fishing, seafood, or Florida! I l bought one for my brother as a gift and liked it so much I bought another one for myself!

Purchased for a gift, very pleased with the quality and content! Although not practical, it would've been nice to have had a paper book cover like another cook book I purchased, nicer for display purposes!

Photos are stunning, but way too many drink,M dessert and side dish recipes for a book touted as a seafood cookbook. Nice stories and again the photography is excellent. Would not buy again as a seafood cookbook.

Very interesting cookbook. My husband found the review for this book in the newspaper. I read the review and ordered 3 of them for gifts. I have not tried any of the recipes yet , but they look amazing. The photography is just beautiful. The stories that go along with the recipes and so much fun to read.

My husband and I fell in love with DK (especially the Smithsonian line) during a trip to the Smithsonian museums. The books are filled with an immense amount of information which is presented in a fascinating, readable way. Of course the author couldn't include absolutely every single detail about the subject at hand, but they still did a wonderful job. The photos are gorgeous and a perfect complement to the information being presented. The books themselves have sturdy binding and stout construction.

I like ships, and I like history. This book is about as good as it gets. Absolutely loaded with facts and photos, it gives the history of ships from ancient Roman vessels to modern aircraft carriers. If you like to read at night before bed, this is a great read. I got this copy from a great vendor, and it was less than ten bucks. I am sure I will be thumbing through it ten years from now.

I have been reading this book in the waiting room of my dentist for several years. Finally bought my own copy and makes me feel akin to those "iron men in wooden ships".

It's a bit elementary for us armchair salts but nice to browse through and inexpensive enough that your spilled tea or coffee stains won't make you feel guilty.

This is the best book I have seen about ships.The illustrations are great. I will refer to it again and again.

If you're captivated by all things nautical, then this is the book for you! The text is replete with gorgeous images that track the historical progression of ships (boats, submarines, etc.). The text is informative, interesting and accessibly presented (the book is also quite skimmable for time-pressed pleasure). I have yet to find a comparable text, and everyone who sees this book is immediately taken with its wonderful photos.

This book was originally published in 1972 (in Chinese). For a book of that time, it had a lot of information. It has photographs that show you the correct lotus position, half lotus, and kneeling position (in Japanese this position is called `seiza'). Today, this kind of information is everywhere.It has rather cryptic information on meditation techniques:"Concentration of Ch'iao does not always produce ill effects, however, and meditation of the Tan Tein should not be entirely discarded. Although some people may have apprehensions about practicing this technique, Tan Tien does have its special function and it sometimes desirable for one to concentrate on it."This is an example of one of the most specific and concrete discussions of technique in the book.Pg 127 "Samadhi sila forbids the revelation of the exact nature of this state, but it is also very difficult to describe. One has to know how to deal with the various changes that occur in mind and body in order to guarantee success. Sila, or discipline, forbids further discussion"These quotes may seem like they are taken out of context, but unfortunately they are not. This is what reading this book is like.The bulk of the book is a huge amount of very detailed information on the side effects of Taoist practices. It talks about different transformations that can occur. Presumably these side effects come about from practicing the techniques which are mentioned to be sometimes desirable in certain circumstance. It is very hard to tell. The book says over and over again that the only way to learn is from a good teacher, not a book.There is a two page discussion of breathing techniques to cultivate qi, which concludes with as "some pseudo-Taoist sutras purported to be sutras of the Wei and Chin dynasties, occasionally mention these theories. These sutras, however, are deceptive and should not be trusted." (pg 36). There are no specific sutra names, no additional information of any sort, and of course, no specific breathing techniques are given.I've been practicing qigong and esoteric Taoism since 1988 and I haven't encountered the phenomena the authors describe.This is very much like reading Lu K'uan Yu [Charles Luk's books] "Taoist Yoga: Alchemy and Immortality". Unless you already know how to do the higher alchemical practices (such as "kan & li"), you won't understand the book. However, if you understand the book you probably won't need it.Unlike "Avid Reader" I would not recommend this book to anyone other than an expert - someone with personal experience of the higher levels of inner alchemy. I think it has no value to a beginner. Zero. Zip. None. For beginners, there are far more concrete step by step books that have been published in the 35 years since this book was published.

This book has a lot of generalized information about meditation. Listed within is every basic path to enlightenment. I believe it is for more advanced readers because the focus seems to be commentary regarding common misconceptions about meditation and enlightenment, and because without a strong foundation much of the classical axioms won't make practical sense.Informative, Supplementary, More of a warning manual than instructional, Underplays the importance of sexual qi-gong, Heavy Buddhist influence arguably at times with undertones of rejection of Taoist concepts, Claims DanTien meditation causes disease of the Lower Body.

Tao & Longevity is uneven in places but has a great intention to bring forth information often untouched by many authors. So many who study these arts, tend to come from disbelieving any other approaches other than those given by their own teachers. Often times they label works in ways that put down a simply different approach. The reason is because many students of these ancient arts feel there is only one correct teacher: Their own! Opening our minds and hearts can only offer a more spacious attitude.

Everything Master Nan writes is golden and leagues beyond other contemporary authors.

Overall this book was interesting. I do agree, however, with the poster who stated that this was not for beginners. It was translated and the writing is a bit awkward at times. There is a lot of cryptic information that, unless you have a previous knowledge, can be sort of difficult to digest. There are interesting illustrations regarding different meditation positions and also energy paths.

Although an interesting read it feels outdated in some parts and assumes a certain degree of familiarity with jargon on the subject.

Best book on meditation, ever! This one is about all you need. On my second time through. Inspiring, informative. Many things I did not know. And I have been meditating a long time.

I was looking forward to receiving this book. I have practiced the LHP for 5 years and have been a student of the occult for 20. A decade or more ago I found a fondness for eastern traditions. I had spent time with many religious faith systems including Native Americans and Vodou practitioners. When I saw this book had "Left Hand Taoism" and some information about Vodou leaning towards the left, I was excited to quench my thirst for knowledge.What I ended up with was a ridiculous book, full of tripe trying to be passed off as sinister. This is not a diabolical book, but something written to shock the reader into thinking it's something dark and forbidden. Well, yes, if you did the rituals in this book, you'd indeed be doing something forbidden, and sociopathic. Examples are: digging up the corpse of a dead baby, human sacrifice, and cannibalism. This isn't LHP, it's a bad Ruggero Deodato movie script. It's plagued with typos, misspellings and grammatical errors to boot. What terrible misrepresentation of Satanism. It's something only a rebellious teen-ager would believe it was in any way a representation of any Left Hand Path based belief system, and I've read the "works" of the ONA. I want real practical magick, not some unresearched junk pawned off as true and gritty LHP. I don't think I read one ritual that was truly usable or there wasn't a capital crime involved. What a waste of money. If you're truly interested in the LHP, and want to know more about the darker half and esoteric parts of religions, don't waste your time or hard earned money on this book. And for the love of Lucifer (yes, said in jest) don't believe anything in it to be true, or not a perversion.Thank you for reading my review.

Pretty basic information about several different left handed paths. Several of the rituals and writings have been modified to match the authors "sinister" image. Just like his other book purchased it is an editing nightmare plagued with misspelled words and missing punctuation. I will never buy anyother of this authors material. If you are considering this I would advise against it, there are plenty of other introductory books out there with more accurate and detailed information.

Very interesting. A book not meant for the faint hearted...

The best way to describe this book is a 148 page soft cover manual to be a practical, Left Hand Path Terrorist and sorcerer on the path of 3 different LHP systems. It contains a basic breakdown, couple of rituals and sigils here and there for various sinister traditions around the world. The main focus here is Dark Voodoo, Santa Muerte cult and Quimbanda - exactly as advertised. Although It DOES NOT have everything there is to know about those currents, It contains ENOUGH information to get the neophyte Satanic Terrorist started. Wicked job Mr. Putignano!

There was some good information but was much shorter in length than i expected

I would suggest that if you are under the age of forty, you not read thisBook, since you will not have the will not spiritual development to understandWhat damnation it is.For those forty and over, it is enlightening to see the sigils for Voodoo, a decentExplanation about the Loa. There is much blood-letting, blood-drinking,Animal sacrifice and other things mentioned here, so please read it with caution.An average book.

This book is excellent. It contains the section of Santa Muerte from the now unpublished Grimoire of Asha'Shedim as well as the Pitchfork of Maioral Lucifer which is now expanded. This book also contains a look into Left Hand Voodoo through Kalfu. Finally there is a short piece of Left Hand Tao that although short is interesting. Asha'Shedim has repeated essays in works in the past but from his website he states that he is no longer doing this. He will be releasing a couple books this year "Mark of Qayin" and "Liber Rudra" which the last one will be released by Martinet Press. He has rewritten his past work for these books and included new MS and rituals not found anywhere. He stated that he no longer will recycle his work after these releases. I am excited to get these to see the rewrites as well as the new material. I know Mark of Qayin comes out March 20th but I don't know when Martinet Press is putting out Liber Rudra.Anyways, back to this book. I found it very useful in my work and especially loved the work on Kalfu and the expanded Maioral Lucifer (Quimbanda)...The Lilin Society is a esoteric society and although I am not a member I am a supporter. Hail Satan!!!!!!
