We lost our beloved son to suicide. This was one of the best books we read through this time. Author encourages leaning on the Lord in a most practical manner. He does not sugar-coat the pain and difficult journey of grief. He has no use for meaningless nice / churchy sayings. The journey of grief can try you to your soul’s very limits—and he acknowledges this. Very great book.
I received this book from a friend when I suffered a loss. It was of great help to me so I purchased it for two friends who both lost their husbands over Thanksgiving and Christmas this past year. I heard from them and they indicated that there are many chapters that are helping them deal with their losses. It's very helpful and hits the nail on the head with so many things we all take for granted and don't know the pain of a loss until it happens to ourselves.
Excellent resource for someone who has lost a loved one. I just ran across it one day several months after losing my husband of 53 years. Not a study and you don't really have to spend a lot of time reading. Just read when you need to calm yourself or give yourself a lift when lonely. I just read a page or two and my spirits are lifted. A friend of mine just recently lost her husband and I cold no longer find it in the store so I checked on Amazon and there it was.

This is a fantastic book. My wife and I lost our youngest son at 51 years of age. We of course are in our mid to late 70s. The book helped a lot and when one of my wife's relatives passed away (very young) my wife sent this book to the surviving wife.
