Delicious. I used to own a bakery and appreciate the precise instructions and baking weights. Lots of variety and things I hadn't ever thought about putting in a muffin. Tried the Ultra-Flaky biscuits off the bat and was super happy with the results. I was a tad low on baking powder and my (2 year old) twins cut them out and they still turned out light and super-flaky. Perfect with a little raspberry jam and butter. On to the pinwheels!**Note - the ugly ones in the photos were my attempt to squeeze the last batch of dough into an extra - still delish!

I'm a huge fan of muffins, so of course I got this book the second it came out. All I can say is WOW!So far I've made Bake-Sale Berry, Sour Cream Coffee Cake, and Morning Glory muffins. My husband can't stop talking about them and my coworkers are eagerly awaiting the next batch.The instructions are straightforward with no crazy ingredients. As if by miracle, mine turn out looking like the photos in the book. When does THAT happen??I've even been experimenting with making them gluten free (no one can tell, she recommends a particular kind of GF flour), and I always cook and bake dairy free (butter for Earth Balance, milk for coconut/almond, cow sour cream for Tofutti sour cream).I'm so in love with this cookbook I'm taking a moment to write this review while I wait for the Balsamic Strawberry muffins to come out of the oven.

An amazing new collection, incorporating some unique techniques and excellent tips. The "ginger peach muffin" recipe is, by itself, worth the price of the book. I have a dozen or more muffin cookbooks, but this is my new favorite.

The picture on the front sold me. I HAD to have this book. I have only made one recipe so far ( the Bake Sale Berry Muffins) and they were fantastic. I think this will be my go-to book for accompaniments to meals.

Can't wait for it to get cold, so I can roll these out.

So far I have made the bake sale blueberry muffins twice and got rave reviews. I cannot to wait to try the other recipes in this fantastic book!

Great historical book. I am researching Benedictine history, and this book was invaluable to me in my research and in my understanding of all of those missing centuries that are excluded from other historical documents and publications. A true masterpiece that Sr. Ann should be rightly proud to call her own..

The Benedictine tradition traces its roots back fifteen hundred years to the Rule written by Benedict of Norcia (c. 480-543/547). Essentially a guide for seeking God, The Rule of Benedict "is so adaptable and highly revered that it has provided the basis for almost all subsequent rules of most of the founders of religious orders..." Benedictine Men and Women of Courage: Roots and History presents an in depth history of Benedictines from its beginnings to the present day. In this weighty tome, Ann Kessler, O.S.B. and Neville Ann Kelly render an account of "the contradictory alterations of transforming wisdom and devastating folly" that mark Benedictine history.The reader comes to know the major figures, male and female, that have shaped the development of the Benedictines. Kessler does not minimize their very human qualities. Rather she presents them as complex humans with both virtues and foibles, moments of unity and of dissension. Not only are there internal struggles over the centuries, but the monasteries are also subject to the fluctuation of the political tides, both within the Church and within the various countries where they are located.
