Batman Beyond was an great cartoon series. It was edgy, and gave the Batman lore something new in a futuristic setting without losing sight of its roots. There isn't much written for the series. As a matter of fact this series guide is just about all there is aside from comic books. Batman Beyond: The Animated Series Guide gives you a little bit of just about every aspect of the cartoon series. You get profiles on the heroes, villains and supporting characters from the series. You also get a little info on Batman's advanced crime fighting technology. The only problem is the book is a light read at 48 pages. Even though you get about everything in this single volume the information you get is sparse at best. Technical data on Batman's new suit and array of gadgets and advanced Batmobile all fit on two pages. Same goes for all the other info. It's a light read. It's also a pedestrian read as the book is written for a younger audience.Don't get me wrong. I really like owning this book. However I did wish they delved more within the universe than they did. This book would have done well to have an additional 24 pages or more get more into the nitty gritty of Batman Beyond. If you are a fan of the cartoon and want crave more than just the cartoon series this is a mixed bag as lots of info is just gleaned from the show. However you do get a few gems not obvious when watching the series.

Best meal plan book I own & and I have about 10! My acupuncturist recommended this as a way for me to reduce my calories but still be balanced with my nutritional intake. I'm not diabetic, but I am tired of all the diets out there that say it's a life plan. This book is the life plan book!! Interesting meals - some take longer to prepare than others - but there are so many quick meals too. Some foods are eliminated (junk food, processed), but otherwise, the variety is astounding. I lost 6 pounds my first week & that was with a little extra on my plate! I feel terrific & just need to focus on my discipline. Totally recommend this book for everyone - diabetic or not.

I have struggled to come up with an interesting, varied menu plan for myself. Here's the solution to that problem. This is a great resource for anyone, not just diabetes patients, trying to follow a balanced, calorie controlled eating plan. There are over a hundred suggestions each for breakfasts, lunches, dinners, and snacks, plus a selection of menus for special occasion meals (such as holidays, family gatherings, and picnics). Each entry gives the complete menu for that meal plus any needed recipe right with the entry. In addition each entry gives basic nutrition information (calories, protein, fat, carbohydrates,fiber, etc.).The menus are based on a 1500 calorie daily goal, but there is an easy to follow chart showing how to adapt the plan to 1200, 1800, and 2100 daily goals. There are also brief introductory sections discussing how the menus work, suggestions for eating out, and other useful topics.Pros:Easy to useGreat varietySimple to follow recipesGood index based on main ingredientsReliable informationManageable sizeCons:Most recipes are for more than 1 serving, typically 4 or more. Not all are useful as leftovers.If your main method for controlling your blood glucose is counting carbs, you'll have to do a little extra work. If you have found more success strictly limiting carbs this book will be less helpful to you.I highly recommend this to anyone seeking help planning interesting and varied menus that control calories.

The meals are separated into breakfasts, lunches, dinners, and snacks. I can mix and match as each meal is consistent in nutrients. This is not an exotic, culinary masterpiece, but down-to-earth everyday meal planning and cooking for those of us who do not have access to gourmet grocery stores or even large metropolitan grocery stores for ingredients. Each time I use one of the meals/recipes I also figure the Weight Watcher points. I highly recommend this book for those who are "ordinary" meal planners and cooks and have someone in the family who is prediabetic or diabetic.

Pretty disappointing book given that it is from the ADA. Meals based on 1200 calories days. As a newly diagnosed diabetic I am restricted to 45 carbs. Too many of the meals have way more than that. Good information on how to adjust for higher calorie plans but if a 1200 calorie plan is already at 50 plus carbs per meal, the book is useless. Very disappointing.

This is a wonderful book which helps me plan my meals and snacks. As I started my diabetic, constant carbohydrate diet I was thoroughly absent of ideas on planning diabetic meals over a long period of time, but this book was just what I needed.

I am a Type 2 diabetic trying to get off oral meds and reactionary and long-lasting insulin. I have conquered the reactionary insulin issues by just cutting out bread, reduced my L/L insulin from 60 units to 40 units each night, and lost 22 pounds in the process. My A1c is consistently 5.5, (that of a non-diabetic), down from a high of 8.5.This book will allow me to tailor all meals so I can reach my goal of zero insulin, and possibly reduce oral meds. I also hope to save the approximately $3,000 cost of insulin and meds per year.UPDATE 6/2/14: Down 31 pounds and down to 20 units of Lantus... heading to zero insulin.

After my mom recently being diagnosed diabetic I searched the book stores and public library for an easy to read, information and not to overwhelming book that offers tons of examples for those new to counting carbs and adjusting to a new lifestyle without feeling like it's life sentence of boring food and fear of what to eat and not to eat. I also suggest Gretchen Beckers Book The first year, type two diabetes, great and packed with lots of info.... needless to say after doing the research I purchased this book from amazon and it has been a great help.

A very good cookbook recommended to me by my nutritionist! Loved just the first few pages so much I felt it was worth it. It took me a long time to buy the book but when I read it I slapped myself. Great for low fat, low carb, heart healthy or even pre-bariatric dieters, or anyone who needs a low prep but doesn't mind a higher prep meal with simpler ingredients and wants to be healthy.

This book taught me to be grateful for what I have and to never think twice about helping others. The story of Ron Hall and Denver Moore takes a new look into the mind of a homeless man who’s spiritually filled and a wealthy entrepreneur who is struggling with spiritual strength through his wife’s illness. The book is moving, engaging, and it overall forces the reader to really think about if they’ve served others with the love of Christ as much as they can. If you’re wanting a closer look into the lives of those who are in poverty, look no further. This book perfectly exemplifies how you never know someone’s true story. This story takes you on a journey of self contemplation as it makes you think about your own actions in life and how you treat other people. More often then not, we tend to overlook the outcome of our actions, this book covers how one man’s life has helped thousands. For me, it was cool to read about how this took place only 20 minutes from where I live. It was nice to be able to relate to some of the scenarios these people went through based on location and how they went about life. This must-read is definitely a emotional ride through these people’s lives, and the amount of love and compassion I built for these people as I read through their life was a very personal traverse. I enjoyed reading this book and I know you will too. It’s a very personal and engaging story full of passion, joy, confusion, anger and peace. I hope that this book rekindles the fire in your heart for helping others and making a change.

A life-changing story. How anyone can possibly read this book without a profound change in both mindset and lifestyle, is beyond me.There are many stories of wives living a deep faith without sharing it with their husbands who are so busy providing for the family and short on timeor possibly just not interested in matters of faith and volunteerism. This husband was different because he went along reluctantly with his wife.He was a Christian too, but his faith was just not as deep as his wife's. Her activities were o.k. as long as she did her volunteering 'on their side of the tracks'.The other half of the story is a homeless drifter born in the deep south and enslaved in the "boss man - share cropper system". Orphaned at a young age, shifted from relative to relative, absolutely no chance for education, doomed to work for the boss man for his bare existence.Until the day he decided to break loose and hitch a ride on the railways, joining the group of drifters from one place to another, more often than not hungry, sleeping under bridges, begging on street corners for just anything to eat or alcohol to drink - always hungry and/or drunk.. a bum , an outcast. That is until God and Debbie intervene.. Debbie hears of a Mission for the homeless in their city and is determined to volunteer there. Her husband Ron agrees to go with her, but mainly to protect her from the unsavory homeless (his attitude), God's children (her attitude) Debbie has never met a stranger, but Ron has met many.There is one particular man that Debbie urges her husband to befriend, and therein lies the story. As the pages turn and as tragedy strikes, I shed many tears and vowed to see the homeless in new lights, they are human, God's children, who one day may have had a family, and now just need a touch from a compassionate heart. Denver, the homeless man Ron befriends, will warm your heart. Well written, absorbing. and life changingwith not a dull moment.

Have a box of tissues handy... I purchased this Kindle book after seeing the trailer for this movie that's coming out in a couple weeks. The last book that affected my "faith" (not "church-going" faith but personal "faith") this deeply was "The Shack". I've read criticism of the "punctuation" in Denver Moore's portion of the book. Understand that this book is written as though the authors are sitting next to you sharing their very personal story in their day-to-day conversational manner of speaking - and I am SO glad it IS written this way. It makes this book very poignant and deeply personal. I read this book in two evenings - I couldn't put it down. I highly recommend this book if you want a reason, in the troubled times we live in, to get up and go forward tomorrow morning.

A little slow to start; I found it difficult to get into the story and I considered putting it back on the shelf, probably because I don't usually go for this genre. But after about 75 pages, the story begins to form more vividly, and I delved right into it.I have wept my way through this book, in public and in waiting rooms. It is as touching as it is revealing about your own vulnerabilities and insecurities, regardless of your faith. I just finished reading the last page and will need a few days to ponder the depth of this lesson (the many lessons!) before moving on to another story.I tend to give books away after reading them, as a way to share the experience and support local libraries, but I'm finding it difficult imagining parting with this one. At least for now.
