Read through once. Went to read again, but will not open.

Unlike many of ebooks that I have read, this one actually has a wealth of information that you can use. As a certified sports nutritionist, I am skeptical of many exercise related how-to guides. Many tell you what they promise for the first 2/3 of the book, then finally get to some mediocre information at the end. This warm-up guide was well written, with detailed explanations of warm-up routines for specific workout purposes. I also appreciate the fact that the author took the time to write out specifically how to do each exercise. I am excited to try these for myself and recommend them to the athletes I coach.

Content is OK, but it's not a Kindle optimized book. More like a PDF, no links, can't markup etc.

About the Author

Dr. Joshua Kulp is a co-founder of the Conservative Yeshiva in Jerusalem, where he has taught Talmud and Halakhah for over a decade. He is also on the faculty of the Schechter Institute of Jewish Studies and coordinates the Mishnah Yomit program for the United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism. He holds a Ph.D. in Talmudic Studies from Bar-Ilan University and has published numerous articles on the Seder and other subjects in leading academic journals.Prof. David Golinkin is President and the Jerome and Miriam Katzin Professor of Jewish Law at the Schechter Institute of Jewish Studies in Jerusalem. He has published forty books and almost 200 articles on various aspects of Jewish Studies. The illuminations for The Schechter Haggadah are taken from his personal collection of Haggadot as well as from The Frank-Lovell and Morris and Beverly Baker Haggadah Collections in the Schechter Institute Library.

This is one of the rare Haggadot that has something for everyone. In the first section, the Hebrew and English text of the Haggadah is presented in large type that is clear and attractive, with selected illustrations on the page; notes in the margin point to a second section, where nearly one hundred additional images are printed in full color with detailed commentary.From my perspective, however, the most important part of this book lies in the third and final section: Dr. Joshua Kulp's masterful commentary on the Haggadah. I was a student of Dr. Kulp's in 1998, when photocopied sheets of very early drafts circulated around the yeshiva, and the final commentary presented here is one of the best Haggadah commentaries I have ever encountered.The commentary is divided into themed sections, with margin notes on the text of the Haggadah in the first section indicating where to find more detailed commentary later on. The commentary itself strikes a delicate balance, offering deep scholarly insights in a style that is easy to follow for learners at all levels.Significantly, works published between 2002-2006 by Professors Shamma Friedman and Judith Hauptmann, as well as Dr. Kulp himself, have significantly changed our understanding of the historical development of the Haggadah and the Seder, and to my knowledge this book is the first English-language Haggadah to take full advantage of the latest scholarship on the subject.

Beautifully done and very informative. I probably wouldn't use it at the seder--- it's large and elegant and I wouldn't want it to get wine-spattered or filled with matza crumbs--- but it's an excellent resource.

My Rating - Put it on your listLevel - Easy read, medium lengthSummaryThis is another book that is hard to summarize with just repeating the title or copy/pasting the table of contents. I guess the title isn't super clear, it comes from a quote that he opens the book with. Basically asking, 'God give us strength in every good endeavor', so, to prosper and do well and any work or vocation we choose.The book is broken into three main parts - God's plan for work, our problems with work, and the Gospel and work. An interesting point in God's plan is that work is not punishment. We often think we are required to work due to fall, but the punishment is only that it will be hard, not that we will have to do it. The problems section runs down the typical issues people have, be unmotivated and not 'work as if for the Lord', or being motivated by the wrong then (money, prestige, etc.), or making work and idol.The final section is the strength of the book. Not only are there some practical how-to-ness in there, but it is extremely encouraging. This may be most important for anything who does not like their job. You will be lifted up and maybe even be a little pumped while reading this last part. I know it changed my thinking. It caused/challenged me to look at things differently and to find different ways of approaching my job and it's issues. Most of all, I was left with a feeling of hope, in that, if doing it for God, it cannot be pointless.Keller is obviously a great writer, as evidence see his seven thousand books, most of which are best sellers. The whole book is well written and reads quickly. Most important, it is theologically sound and Biblically based. The books only weakness (one it shares with almost all of these types of books) is that it is written for white collar professionals. It assumes education, mobility, and choice in careers. There is a passing reference to blue collar work, but I found it lacking.My ThoughtsThe reminder that the curse isn't the work is an important perspective shift for most people. If you are like me, you remember that the punishments are hard work of the land and pain in child birth. However, we were already called to work and exercise dominion. The reason we don't like work, isn't that it is a punishment, it is that it isn't what it is supposed to be, and of course, it's hard.I want to spend a little time reiterating some points for the third section. And this impact is beyond evangelism through the speaking of the gospel, it also includes things like doing our work well, displaying gospel-informed patterns in our relationships, holding to a clear ethical standard, and more. This book does a good job of exploring all that and it would benefit every Christian to read it.

Almost done reading this book love it so far if I could buy 100 of this book I would because its such a great book , the book came in a flash.

This book is a wonderful book for young kids to read for fun, but the book has a lot of violence in it so I think only kids over 11 should read this book.

This book review is for No Such Person by Caroline Cooney. The book is 245 pages long and was published by Delacorte Press on July 14, 2015.This story is about a well regarded family who lives on the Connecticut River. The two Allerdon  girls, Lander and Miranda, are always competing. One summer day, Lander gets on a boat with Jason, the guy she is dating, but barely knows. She meets him when they witness a boating accident and he was involved. She thought he was cute and they went out on the boat for a date. On the date Jason asks Lander if she wants to do target practice. A couple days later a man, Jerry, was found dead in the woods near their house.The next thing Landon knows, she is being interrogated by the police and being accused of murder. The main characters in this story were Miranda and her older sister Lander. Lander and Miranda have never really been close, and they fight over everything. Lander likes to focus on her medical studies, while usually Miranda slumps in her feelings. I believe that both of these characters were credible because they seem to act like regular teenagers. Lander was always on her cell phone and both of the girls always got into arguments, which I believe is how most teenage girls are. In this story, Lander went on a date with a boy that she barely knew which ended up getting her in trouble. Miranda tries to help get Lander out of her situation. The main problem in this story was Lander being suspected of murder. My favorite character in this story was Lander because I thought she was exciting and very smart.I enjoyed this book very much. It kept me on my toes on all time and always had me thinking about what would happen next. The author did a very nice job writing this mystery. My favorite of the part of the book was the very end. It had a really good twist that I did not see coming. My least favorite part of the book is the middle. I thought the book could get very boring and repetitive. If I could change one thing it would be a little more action in the story. I thought the only part with action in it was the beginning and the end. This is what I would have changed with this book.I have not read any other books by this author, but if I had to compare this book to another I would say it reminded me of the Hardy Boys or a mystery story. I would recommend this book to someone who likes a pretty short book and a good read. The type of person that would like this book would be someone who really likes mystery stories and someone who likes to be kept on their toes. They would have to be fine with not a lot of action, however. I would give this book a 3 out of 5 stars because I thought it was good, but there just was not as much action as I like.

There is nothing at all redeemable about the book - in fact I finished this yesterday and can't even remember the main character's name and I had to reread the synopsis to even remember the story line - don't waste your time! If you are looking for a great YA thriller try The Cheech Room or The List.

TED FOX is the author of Showtime at the Apollo: The Story of Harlem’s World Famous Theater—the definitive and only full-scale history of Harlem’s legendary showplace and the source material for this graphic novel adaptation—and In the Groove, a collection of interviews with those who have shaped the music industry. He is also a producer and manager, most notably for four-time Grammy nominee Buckwheat Zydeco. He lives in Manhattan and upstate New York.  JAMES OTIS SMITH is a multitalented artist whose work spans illustration, comics, motion graphics, and video. Formerly a member of the Act-i-vate Comics collective, he designed and illustrated the children’s book Madunia: Stories of the Ancient Lands with writer James McCammon, among other titles. Certainly a story that deserves to be told. Never got through more than the first 20-30 pages. The illustrations style is very repetitive -- black and purple drawings, page after page. Hard to keep interested. Plus there are many celebs included. The artist drew some of them well but some of them hard to believe that this was indeed the person intended.

Was looking forward to getting the history of the Apollo.I expected the storyline to be clearer but it rambles. Graphic are okay not the best.

This is the best book i have read read about the Apollo. Learning the history and going through the decades was so immersive.

If you love American pop music, especially r&b, or you love New York or you enjoy history, this book is for you. It's a lot of fun.

Showtime at the Apollo: The Epic Tale of Harlem’s Legendary Theater is clearly an adaptation of a prose work, with text boxes explaining key moments in the location’s history, but the illustrations add more hooks to show the reader just how important this Harlem entertainment venue has been. (It marks its 85th anniversary in 2019!) So many big names played there when they visited New York City, and amateurs could launch a career if they went over well.It’s marvelous to see so many artists portrayed and quotes included, making this almost an oral history. Smith does a great job with the likenesses. They’re not photo-realistic but still recognizable while still demonstrating artistic style. I found Fox’s inclusion as a character a helpful guidepost to how the book came to be as well. It’s astounding how many people wanted to talk to him about this subject, passing him around to share their stories. Superstars like Elvis and the Beatles even make cameo appearances, wanting to see performers there. Playing the Apollo put a stamp of legitimacy on up-and-coming acts.Beyond being a significant performance venue, it was a community anchor for a group that didn’t find as much acceptance elsewhere. When not playing, people shared gossip, gambled, and gave each other tips. Chapters cover* the development of Harlem as an entertainment destination in the early years of the 1900s* the Schiffmans, the Jewish family that owned the theater, their hardball tactics, and the varied ways they were perceived by the community* some of the most famous bands, comedians, and dancers to play the Apollo* the legend of Amateur Night and its demanding audience* the invention of bebop and later, rhythm and blues* changes in the business with the advent of records and rock’n’roll* gospel revues and their effect on more commercial soul music* the tough times when the theater went dark in the late 70s and later ownership changes, leading to an eventual renovationAn afterword by Fox explains how the original book came together. At a relatively brisk 240 pages, obviously there are a lot of subjects merely touched on, but the whole package is a wonderful journey through pop culture history, particularly good for the reader not yet familiar with the details. Showtime at the Apollo reads more like an illustrated history than a true graphic novel. Even when the pictures alone could tell the tale, there is a text box labeling what is depicted. The artwork is clear. Showtime at the Apollo: The Epic Tale of Harlem's Legendary Theater by Ted Fox is a graphic novel adaptation of the author's 1983 history of the historic Harlem theater with a few new updates. The African-American theater has a legendary musical history with the best of the best performers gracing its stage. Fox's graphic novel brings the rich musical history and cultural significance of the Apollo to life. Even though I read an unfinished copy of the ARC, I still enjoyed the history lesson the author presents. It's fantastic that he covers from the moment it was built to the present, but I definitely found myself most interested in its earlier days from the 1930s through the 1940s. Anyway, like I mentioned before, I read an unfinished ARC and quite a bit of the artwork is either not there or rough sketches (sometimes just circles where people were supposed to appear on the page). Even though it I believe I still got all of the text from the pages, I still felt a bit out of the loop since I was missing a significant portion of this history.
