Ron K.C. Cheng is head of the Engineering Design and Appreciation Unit of the Industrial Centre of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University and has over thirty years of experience in the area of teaching and practical training. I originally was disappointed when I received the book. It is a very flimsy book, with a cover about the thickness of a notecard..The working files aren't as easy to get ahold of as they could be. It did take some communication with the Publisher to get the working files which happen to aid the power of the book.So, after communication with the publisher via email, you will then have access to the working files with your account at the publisher's website.So, to recap:1. Create account on publisher's website.2. Email publisher's customer service with your amazon order #/proof of purchase3. Then when response from publisher is received you will be able to go back to the publisher's website under your account. The customer service will have enabled the working files. Then you may download them.4. You may want to make a dust jacket since the pages and cover are similar to newspaper.Now, you can get learnin!

This book refers to a CD and access to online examples, neither of which I received. When I contacted the publisher, even thoughI am a teacher, I could not get an access code or a CD. The entire book refers to examples that the reader can work with, unfortunately, I am not entitled to them. The book is only OK, like most tech books, but the customer service is unsatisfactory.

Can't access online content. Can't even create an account with Cengage because you must choose a school at registration. I don't go to a school. I just bought the book on Amazon. Can't access online help without an account. Very frustrating.

Excellent book, but I have always liked Mr. Cheng's "Inside" books as it pertained to Rhinoceros 3D, and at a very reasonable price in Kindle format as opposed to the physical book.

Good book, good practice and one more 3d software to add on my skill set

Great Book!

Good as a reference for each command, if you know which commands to use to accomplish some goal (on the other hand, the Rhino website itself has a reference that is better since it's in color--even the eTextbook is in black and white, although the text references colors that are supposed to appear in the figures. Idiot publishers.). However, if you want to start making actual things in Rhino, this book won't help you much (I say this as someone who's been modelling with SolidWorks, including via surfacing, for 5 years). The author hints at the necessity of being able to construct the curves for your surfaces, but the chapter on curves gives few useful tips on how to accomplish that. The information on dealing with the "history" feature is almost non-existent, very frustrating for someone who comes from parametric or even synchronous modelling (which is probably most people who will read the book, since parametric modelling programs are widely taught in university, but not Rhino).The first four chapters are the best--they consist of some hands-on projects for making things. Unfortunately, the projects here are pretty basic, and only one covers operations that SolidWorks can't do--if only there were, say, 8 more such chapters, covering more advanced features, dealing with history, making your curves from scratch, etc., then the book would be worth the time to read it.

A Seat at the Table is Mark’s follow-up to the Art of Business Value. With AoBV, he began posing troubling questions for the Agile community by explaining how we’ve been taking too narrow a view of business value. He also revealed his ulterior motives when he asks as a CIO, “If the team is not allowed to listen to anyone other than the product owner, then what exactly should I be doing to add value to the enterprise?”. That’s Mark: provocative and funny.Maybe Mark makes trouble because he’s has been troubled by his own role as a CIO during the Agile revolution. In “The CIO” chapter of AoBV, he tells a story about being called-out by the CEO for a project which delivered exactly what the business had asked for within budget and on time but was nevertheless, as Mark puts it “a disaster”. His reaction to the CEO at that time was the all-too-common, that’s on the them, not us -- we did our part. Mark’s CEO responded “You’re missing the point. He doubles-down on what he calls Agile’s “fist pounding, this must change” echo chamber. He points-out the hypocrisy of how the Agile team expects management to stay out of the way unless there is an impediment, in which case they expect a bit of command-and-control to remove it. He also makes quite possibly the most provocative criticism ever made of Agile: “I am not sure that the Agile approach fully accounts for how the Agile team can deliver value -- and I think it should.”Now, if you were to read those excerpts out of context (as I’ve presented them here), you might get the idea that Mark is opposed to Agile but nothing could be further from the truth. Wait until you read what he has to say about Waterfall.Comparisons of Agile to Waterfall are easy to come by but Mark does it in a fresh way. In ASaT, he’s actually put his finger on the fatal flaw of Waterfall. He calls it the “contractor-control model”. This shines new light on something that, as Mark puts it, “is so ingrained in us, we don’t even know we’re doing it”. He further explains how traditional IT is still locked-in to that model and how its insistence upon imposing certainty where it isn’t possible is not only self-defeating but actively destructive.Mark saves his most potent venom for Chapter 4 on planning, in which he launches a devastating assault on the plan-driven approach. Using reductio ad absurdum, Mark enumerates what he calls the “articles of faith for the PTW-WTP (i.e. “plan-the-work / work-the-plan”) religion”. It is both hilarious and boldly provocative. How provocative? Quoting this passage to management actually landed me in hot water for a couple of days. That is high-praise in my mind. Thank you Mark, sincerely.A Seat at the Table is not just critical though. As one might expect from a scholar like Mark. It’s researched, constructive and novel. Beginning each chapter with a passage from a philosopher, he sets the stage for moving IT from a service provider to a driver of outcomes; replacing the plan-driven, control paradigm with ‘shaping behavior', a shift from ‘buy’ to ‘build’, a fresh look at Enterprise Architecture (EA) and a concept that I hope Mark is considering as the subject for his next book, impeccability -- although I suspect it’ll be EA.This book is not just for CIO’s. If you are in IT, consider yourself an Agilist, want to understand more about Lean or DevOps, this book must be on your shelf, in your Kindle and part of your audiobook library. It’s that important of a work. Then, I challenge you to experiment with and advocate for some of the ideas put forth. Doing so will take courage. It may even put you at risk, but at least you’ll be choosing that risk and you’ll never wonder if you could have done more.

Great work by Mark (once again!). This book is filling the gaps between management team (especially C-Level folks) and Agile-DevOps team. Most of books or talks are more about on Dev-Ops-Sec or Buz team, usually ignores managerial level inputs. However Mark described well in this book with his real world experiences.

I actually really love the bullet format of this book. The author uses several symbols instead of plain bullet points to help indicate to the reader which items are more important. The book contains many helpful, concise charts. I only gave four out of five stars because I have two complaints. First, the CD is not included, but I am uncertain whether this is because I purchased mine used, or if it is because it is always sold separately. There is a phone number provided near the beginning of the book to order a CD. My second grievance is this book only covers breeding to pregnancy diagnosis, there is nothing about parturition or post-foaling.

I ordered this book on Amazon and it is a wonderful book, but it does not come with the CDrom that it references so much in the book. When you order this book make sure that it includes the CD rom as it is about impossible to get the CDrom separate. The book is a great book, but what a ripoff to not include the cdrom

This is the best, most complete and easy to understand book! Buy it!

This book does have useful information, but the way it is formatted makes it difficult to understand. The book does not flow, the information is written through a series of bullet points. There are chapters, so you can go to the subject you want to learn, but within the chapter the information is not organized in a typical "textbook-like" way. Maybe if it wasn't such an in depth topic some bullet points would be beneficial, but hundreds of bullet points just make it harder to learn. Some people may prefer the way the book is written, I find it more of a hinderance then a help. Although it is written more for a vet than a student.

"Kennewick Man, Perspectives on the Ancient One" is a book for those who cling to the "repatriation movement" even for 9,200 year old skeletons such as the Kennewick Man case. Of the 41 chapters in the book, I found only three which were pro-science and leaned toward the idea of preserving early human remains for yet to be discovered research methods. The other 38 chapters are the extreme opposite. It appears the editors let almost anyone with an axe to grind, be it against Chatters, Jelderks, or archaeology in general have a gallon of ink and paper to vent their feelings. The anti-science arguments ranged from technical, to ridiculous. Since each chapter is by a different author or group of authors, the arguments and stating of the fact get redundant in short order. Many of the authors on chapters are members of various Indian bands/tribes, some from the area of Kennewick, and some from great distances. A large number of them are from the Colville tribe. One was even an ex-student of (now deceased) Robson Bonnichsen, Ph.D who evidently had a bone to pick with his old prof. Some of the authors are from Canada, Australia, South Africa and South America. One of the authors, a member of the Colville tribe and graduate of Dartmouth College, compared the curation of the KM skeleton to digging up graves at Arlington National Cemetery.Most of the anti-curation authors displayed a decidedly anti-Caucasian and anti-U.S. government sentiments in their writings, yet demanded monetary aid and assistance from the U.S. government, federal courts, Corps of Engineers, and archaeology professionals.One author went to far as to criticize the U.S. government for using Indian names like Wenatchees for tribes rather than "normal description the Indian people had for their clans" such as spider, frog and lizard people. There was also the continued insistence that all Native Americans originated on this land mass, and did not migrate here from elsewhere. Another interesting NA belief related in the book is that the earth is a bank, and one may deposit things in it but not withdraw anything.Almost every chapter starts out with the rehash of the finding of the KM remains, the dates, who found what, where they found it, who found what, etc, which most readers of a book of this sort already know all to well.One author when referring to Corps of Engineers land always used quotes around the word "owned" when he said the Corps "owned" the land, insinuating that the land was not owned by the Corps, and implying disdain for the Corps and the concept of law. In the next paragraph he insists that NAGPRA is a "legal compact" between Native Americans and the federal government. So the concept of law is legitimate only when it suits their purpose.At 298 pages for a soft bound book, and with a price of almost $30, I found this book to be extremely expensive and uninformative. I believe the price of the book was determined by charging five cents for each time they used the word "indigenous." Most of the same information I have read in other books is again rehashed ad nauseam in this book, along with a healthy dose anti-progress dogma, presented by lawyers and others.

One thing that I liked about this book was the various viewpoints on Kennewick Man (The Ancient One). From Native viewpoints to Anthropological to Lawyer. One thing that you have to keep in mind is that people all have different viewpoints on the treatment of Kennewick Man.

This calendar is Ok but if I had been able to see it in a store first I would not have purchased it. The squares are smaller then other pocket calendars. There are a lot of blank squares on the bottom (a line and a half or so for most months). The calendar also has no plastic cover like the ones I have previously bought at Wal-Mart.

Very nice pocket planner. Rigid spine so writing in the center fold is a little challenging.Otherwise the added Phone Book, Year at a Glance, Notes, and Passwords pages are very convenient.

This product was not at all what I expected or wanted. The cover was as beautiful as the picture, but that's where the satisfaction ended. I expected a pocket planner much like any other- plastic type cover, nice pages, well organized. Instead, it has a paper cover and the pages are hideous. It's like something a child would doodle in. (Think miniature coloring/activity book with the somewhat textured pages. Quite frankly, I could've picked the same thing up at the local Dollar Tree or Dollar General store for $1-$2.00. Total waste of money!

This calendar is bound like a book with a hard glued edge so it will not lay flat. In fact it doesn't even open all the way because of the way it is bound. I am sorry I bought it :-(

Similar products bought for earlier years all came with plastic sleeves. These did not.

I did not like this product. The description is inaccurate and I wish I could be refunded without having to pay. The boxes are so small that you can’t write in them, there are no extra “notes” pages after the months or even on the sides of each month. It’s not a good buy, with the way it was made, it can be damaged with ease.

I wished I had taken to heart the reviews that stated the binding is stiff and makes it hard to write in the inner parts of each page. This is not printed for function, as it's very difficult to write in. Also, the printing of each page is not "fit" to the size of the page. This is not very professionally made. It almost looks like it is homemade/home-printed, except for the fact it has a nice cover design.

Smaller than I expected but actually a really good size. Will work great for my daughter for school.

Leadership in the Wesleyan SpiritThis book is informative and meets the needs of the class I'm taking at Claremont School of Theology.

Lovett Weems has written a helpful book for leaders who have become frustrated with the authoritarian models of some traditional religious/business writers and/orthose who have become frustrated with the mantra of "if we just go back to...then it will be all right." One might suspect the later from the title of this book, but that is far from his approach. Weems shows that leadership in the Wesleyan spirit is not rote aplication of Wesleys writings and work to conemporary situations. He posits a hermeneutic move whereby we apply the broad general principles of the Wesleyan movement in the context of contemporary society. Generally useful to students of both leadership and Wesley studies. Highly reccomend

Superbly written. As relevant today as when first published, or even when Wesley himself first writing. Weems has a broad knowledge of history, the contect of ministry in the local church, and contemporary culture, and offers this as a beautiful gift at the intersection of all three. Reads lightly, but every page contains a quote worth capturing.

I found Dr. Weems explanation of Wesleyan leadership incredibly on target for the needs this century is bringing us.I was inspired and given a huge helping of food for thought. Ideas that I have never encountered in any other leadership or Wesleyan books. Plus its a fantastic source of interesting and powerful stories and illustrations.Dr. Weems might be a leadership genius for our generation. One dissappointment I had was that he did get bogged down in an academic catch 22. But that was only once.I strongly recommend this book for all leaders, secular and nonprofit organizations.

An excellent read. Full of on time information on Biblical leadership.
