I give 2 stars when comparing this book to other balloon twisting books. I found many of the items difficult to make it is very prose heavy, and at time, hard to follow. Also, while there are many pictures, it sometimes only shows pictures of the after many twists have already been completed, so it is hard to see what the earlier steps need to look like. Again, this rating is comparing it to the ease of following other books, like The Ultimate Balloon Book, which actually shows you (visually) where each twist occurs on a chart.... so much easier to follow, as well as visual of all the steps.

I've been making balloon animals for years and used to make them for parties, but not at the level of the creations pictured in this book, so I thought this would help me up my game. I like the ideas for advanced balloon creations, and the photos of the finished works are inspiring.However, it's really hard to understand the author's explanations of how to make the different balloons. Even with my experience, I often have no idea what the author's talking about, and there aren't enough pictures of the steps to help figure out what he means.Also, the different balloon creations are scattered throughout the book, without an index. I wish I could just look for "dolphin" or "pumpkin," etc, in the table of contents or an index, and then go straight to the directions, but there's no way to do that. The only way to find directions for a specific balloon creation is to flip through every single page. Reading on my iPhone Kindle app, that takes forever!So, I would recommend this book if you're looking for some really cool ideas and you can figure out how to make them by just looking at a picture of the final product. But, if you're looking for clear instructions, or a way to look up how to make specific fancy balloon creations, this is probably not the book for you.

I honestly feel horrible writing this review. Look, I’m pretty good at figuring things out, and I am the type of person who will not be defeated. I’m so sorrybut, the lack of pictures, overcomplicated twists, and lengthy word descriptions just make this book about impossible to follow along with. Feels a lot like trying to learn advanced calculus in a foreign language. If you are experienced in twisting you can probably guess and come close to the same result as the book. Find a different product if you are an absolute beginner. Who knows maybe after some experience, I may come back to this book and be able to follow it.

Very good description but only two of the designs actually looked like a dog or a snake to me. Well written funny but most designs didn’t look like a “car” or crocodile. To me, but it may look like it to someone else. Loved the dog snake and flamingo

I am a beginner but have made hundreds of balloons for my child. To me, the directions in this book are incredibly hard to understand. The author has included photos of things I don't need help with and has no photos of things that don't make sense. I think edits (or more extensive edits) from someone less advanced in balloon making should have happened. It seems like it was published without "testing."

I've taken my limited ballon twisting skills all over the world where I've visited orphanages and primary schools. Though I wish I would have had this book sooner, I'm excited and pleased to have it now.Thank you Jeremy Telford for bringing skill and humor into a clear and precise teaching method. I'm looking forward to many more years of better balloon twisting as I visit new places and delight new children.

I'm a beginner balloon artist, and by artist I mean most my balloons end up popped or looking nothing like they are supposed to. I bought this book in hopes that my current balloon skills would get better. I did learn to make a few of the easier balloons, but often found myself confused over what the author meant on certain things. It's sad to say (because I love buying books and recommending books, but watching free youtube videos was more effective in growing my skills in the balloon world. I give this book a 3 stars, because it was aight. The author's tone was great and funny, I just found it hard to follow at times. Again, I am a beginner and maybe once I get better referencing it back, I may change my opinion..

This book is awesome. I am new to the art and needed a beginners book. The color pictures and directions are easy to follow and several of the designs are absolutely adorable and will make anyone smile. The author is funny and offers several tips. Some of the designs are really complex and I don't have the time to create these in my volenteer activities. However, almost all of the designs in this book can be made in around a minute with practice. Designs include monkey w/ banana, octopus, snake, flower, dolphin, flamingo, 3 mice patterns, moose, horse, pig, frog, lion, skeleton, bee, princess, helicopter, man, seahorse, starfish, jet, butterfly, dog, sword, and a few more.

VERY Useful, and a Great Price too! AMAZING.I spent forever looking at the options of Flash Cards out there.So MANY. But I choose these based on reviews. So glad that I did!The cards are cleanly designed, EASY to read, Organized by section (Prefix, Suffix, etc).They are the building blocks of Med Term. This is what I NEED to learn.Bonus: they also have a hole punched in the top corner, so will fit on a clip,or even into a binder (I've used them this way when on the go).Very very good buy. So glad to have found them! 5 Stars!

Each card has either a prefix, suffix, or root word on one side of the card; while the main definition, a sample word, and graphics fill the other side of the card. They even have holes punched in the top left corner in case you want to put them on a ring of some kind. The cards are also color coded by parts of the word. The only thing that could have made them better is if they were a tad thicker.

I really like the examples on the back of the cards because they expand my knowledge and the images help 'set' the term in my mind. My box was covered in clear tape, but I don't really care. I had a duplicate card but I also don't care about that either. The cards are numbered and that's nice. I take out a set, learn them and then can insert them back 'in order'.

I love these drawn back it didn't come with the flash card ring but thankful I needed some rings for nursing school and I had extras. The flashcards are simple to use very handy and they come in their own box which makes it so convenient to study on the go great product. I recommend to nursing students everywhere!

These flash cards have been a life saver in my studies of medical terminology. There is so much to learn in my class and this learning tool is making it easy for me to absorb the basis for the class. It has every possible prefix, root word, and suffix that is in my book and more.

Great cards but some that I needed for my classes where not their. Don't know if there is a larger more complete set out there but if looking to buy I would certainly look.

The cards themselves are good quality. I like the way each card is hole punched and the cards come with two rings so the student can make easy-to-carry groups of cards to study. I could use more rings.I also like the booklet that comes with the cards. It contains an alphabetical list of all the flash cards, so it's easy to see what terms are included. As I pull a card from the box and add it to my study cards, I check it off the list in the booklet.I'm just beginning a medical terminology course, and these cards are useful. However, I immediately had to make my own flashcards for -blast, blast/o and xanth/o for which there are no flashcards in this substantial boxed set, as well as for many abbreviations. Be prepared to fill in the gaps.

For any nursing students struggling with the vocabulary of medicine, these will be very helpful for you. These cards are very well designed. They can be organized by body system, abbreviation, combining form, suffix, prefix, or any other combination that you may find helpful. They are numbered, color coded, and have easy to understand drawings and photographs. They also have holes punched through them and come with two rings, for portability and studying on the run, as most of us do.The box that they arrive in says that they are fun, effective, and portable. I fully agree that they are effective. These work as long as you work at it on a regular basis. Are they portable? It depends on your perspective. The box is very heavy if you plan on carting the whole set around at once. It is easier to just take out what you need and leave the rest at home. I certainly would not categorize these as fun, though.

She found Suharto surprisingly candid when she apologized for the extra security that limited the venue of her ASEAN meeting to a hotel flush against the water of Manila Bay and beside the US Embassy. He said, "Oh, don't apologize, why do you think I take General Murdani with me all the time. I don't feel safe leaving him behind." This was greeted by laughter except from Mahathir. Murdani smiled sheepishly. Lee quipped that he put his son in the military just to make sure. Mahathir looked on with ill-concealed contempt of the frivolous turn the talks had taken, and in particular of Mrs. Aquino. He kept imposing his views during the meeting. She asked me later if I didn't find him arrogant but that was all. Mrs Aquino disliked any vulgarity because it was, I guess, vulgar. She was well brought up and went to convent school in New York. An ill word never escaped her lips except once when a trusted ally sided with a coup attempt against and she called him a blue bottle fly. She regretted this. I said I would write the publisher. She assumed I was familiar with the book. Mercifully I failed to contact any publisher. The book I had in mind was a simpering and flattering account of Asian godfathers by someone else. Mr Studwell's is after all the book she meant. I am sorry to be so late in clarifying that she never called anyone least of all Mr Lee "an arrogant bastard;" she rather liked him even if he was open about his contempt of the American-style democracy she had just restored.All that off my chest, let me say that I have not stopped recommending How Asia Works to every thinking person in my country, starting with Solita Monsod, our chief economist, who fought for serious agrarian reform and forfeited her post as a result. My father fought for it in the 50s, 60s and 70s until his arrest upon the declaration of martial law. The defense minister who had my father arrested--he was the publisher of the largest circulation and most prestigious political magazine in the country, the Free Press--told him that martial law was the answer to his prayer for agrarian reform because without the bother of democracy, it would finally be seriously implemented. "Then why did you arrest me?" my father asked. "You have a bad temper and might have reacted strongly to our new approach." How Asia Works vindicates the failed work of many like him and Solita Monsod. Their work was discredited by so-called informed opinion that land reform anyway does not work despite best efforts, the rural poor are too stupid to farm their own farms, and at any rate it is too late if it does work. I turned to Asian Godfathers after How Asia Works. It puts down in black and white what was merely rumored, the staggering scale of Southeast Asian corruption and detailed explanation of how it works and works still. If I ever find myself a publisher of a newspaper again, I will insist that all business reporters and analysts be tested on their command of Studwell's theses. I understand now what people like my father fought for and why it would have worked if only planters had not stood in the way and we had elected leaders who would push them out of the way if they tried.What a pity, what lost opportunity. I am curious only why, in Asian Godfathers, the author is not as detailed about corruption in the Philippines as he is about it in Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, Hong Kong of all places, and worse under the British at that. Either our godfathers did not steal as much or they are better at concealing their loot than their counterparts in the rest of the region.

Interesting overview of southeast Asian business circa the Asian financial crisis organized around the Asian tycoons who have made fortunes in league with corrupt government officials. The author's story is a sorry one with government officials essentially ripping off tax dollars and their own citizens in order to benefit some of the richest men on the planet. The tycoons are not portrayed as talented businessmen, just very corrupt and entirely self interested. The author gives some background on the history of these countries/city states (Sing., HK, Malaysia, Thailand & Indonesia) and how this corruption took hold. Not clear if the author's grim perspective is entirely fair and whether some of the excesses at least in Sing. and maybe HK have been partially corrected. Would be worthwhile for the author to update the book given the time that has passed since the events and publication.

I bought this believing the positive reviews and description. Just goes to show you. This author can't write. He's stiff, dry, repetitive. All I'm left with is that Asian billionaire "godfathers" with underlings that do the heavy lifting exist.The author lays out his "intentions" in a 30 page intro that's unreadable styrofoam. You never get a sense of who these people are, what they're like. You never even get a feel for the individual differences between them. It's no big secret that rich guys and government are tied at the hip. I expected to be fascinated by this subject and was not.

A book about the rich and famous that really contains a story about South East Asia. Studwell rejects the racial explanation of SEA problems and instead pins most of the blame for the region's underperformance to the lack of political will (or some say conscience) of the political elites of Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, and the Philippines. Yes, the godfathers do steal, bribe, rob, transgress, and exploit, but they do so within a preset legal and executive systemic political players that enable them. All the while, the hundreds millions of regular citizens in poverty earning USD$2 are waiting for a concentrated noble effort to finally come from a new breed of political elites (and the economic elites who will follow) the like never seen before in the region.

There is much to be learned from him about humility, insight, good management, and giving the horse a chance to succeed.Emerson has earned his strong opinions about human fitness (“we have made inactivity a habit”), and the art of building on good basics (“when I started jumping in 1961, I had bad basics. In 1975...I was still bad.”), and on this last topic he has the pictures to prove it. Denny has the most common sense about working and training horses

I love Denny's humility, and his faith that we can all do better for our horses and ourselves if we resolve to make the effort. The photos are wonderful.

Denny's done it again... maybe even better.

Once again, Denny has hit one out of the park. I have not even read every page and already have insights that will advance my riding and my horses in amazing ways. This book should be required reading, regardless of discipline, as should Hiw Good Riders Get Good. Our horses and ourselves will be better for it.

I follow the author on facebook, and suggested that he put some of these stories together for a book. He sent me a link to his book.duh!This has many vignettes about horses in his life, how he trained them, and some insights on how he could have done better. Page 83 got to me, as I had an explosive mare, and really wish I had read this page three years ago. Might have saved me a few bruises.

I grew up riding and did some 3 Day Eventing. I own a lot of books on horses! I wish this had been the first book I (or my parents) read. It would have saved us (and our horses) a lot of painful (and sometimes expensive) lessons. So delighted to see a book that really advances the body of knowledge of knowing, owning and riding horses in a refreshing and informative way rather than just re-hashing decades old 'how it's always been done'.

I read Denny's first book years ago when it came out and still reference it. I was excited that he wrote another one, and highly recommend it to any equestrian, of any discipline. We can always improve, and we owe it to our horses to keep learning and growing. Thank you, Denny, for continuing to share your insights with us.

I always love tgese trdue stories as sad and disturbing as they are. We should never forget.And you can't make this stuff up.we should always remembwr those who died and/or suffered too much, too young, for no Godly reason

This book is very short (a mere 198 pages), but it's eight stories about nine different children are moving, inspiring, sad, and heart wrenching. I read this book in half a day, my eyes only leaving the pages to eat dinner and run an errand. While the Holocaust was a horrid thing, an incomprehensible thing, it is still immensely important that we keep the memories of those that lived through it and those that struggled and died during it. I bought this book for myself, but found that it would be acceptable for a middle school/high school student to read. Yes there are parts where a small amount of graphics are mentioned, but nothing too severe for the ears of a young adult especially considering this is an important piece of world history that all students should learn about. If in doubt, it's cheap enough and short enough to buy it and read it yourself before passing it on to your child.

I was glad to find this book. I look for true stories all the time about the Holocaust and there aren't aren't that many out there.

Really enjoyed the book. It was very interesting individual stories about those that survived the holocaust from their point of view. It's amazing to me that they even survived the terrors! Worth reading.

This is a good book: tells each story as it happened.If you are looking for a novel then this is not the book for you.Each story is honest and to the point and then tells you where each person is at the present moment of when each story was written.I would recommend this book to adults and younger people as well.Fast and easy read.

ANYtime we can read about the Holocaust and how it came to be, is a GOOD thing! Something we need to seriously think about as head into the very shaky future being 'set up' by our current administration, here in America.

Very sad stories, but the kind we should never forget.

This book may be a little disturbing to read because it is not white-washed and made more palatable for the modern reader. The true stories of eight adults who survived the holocaust as children are recounted to the interviewers.It is a journey of pain and fear - yes - but, also, a vivid portrayal of courage, hope, and perseverance. It is the most vivid picture of our world in those days and times and is a compelling warning that we must not repeat this horrible history against any of our fellow humans.
